Heather Lynn Harris is a college professor, scholar, and picture book creator who spends a lot of time thinking about how kids make meaning from the world around them from what they see – especially in child-centric media. She teaches visual communication–focused courses at St. Bonaventure University, where she explores how symbols, images, and words shape the messages we absorb.
She authors and illustrates original picture books that blend her research with imagination and play. At the heart of everything she makes is a sense of wonder, delight, and awe. She loves creating stories that invite young readers to pause, look closer, and see something familiar in a new way. Alongside her publishing work, she runs an illustration business, sharing her art through a curated website and a network of art shows
